Dr. M. S. Swaminathan, also known as a Architect of Green Revolution, was awarded the UNESCO Gandhi Medal.IndiaPost issued a postage stamp on 'Wheat Revolution' commemorating the increase in Production of Wheat.
He received several international awards in his lifetime, including the Ramon Magsaysay(1971), Albert Einstein Science Award (1986), UNEP Sasakawa Environment (1994), UNESCO Gandhi Medal (1999), Indira Gandhi Prize (1999), and the Franklin D. Roosevelt Four Freedoms Award (2002).
