Gold Mohur issued by Mughal Emperor Jahangir sold for INR 10000000 in Oswal Auction held in Mumbai on October 8, 2023.Jahangir, the fourth Mughal emperor ruled the dynasty from 1605 to 1627 AD. The meaning of the word ‘Jahangir’ is ‘Conqueror of the world’. Jahangir ruled the Mughal Empire for about 22 years and in these 22 years of his reign, he had tried to maintain the stability and also succeeded in consolidating the huge empire.
Mughal Emperor Jahangir issued this gold mour of 10.90g, minted in Agra, in the Hijri year 1022 during the 8th year of his reign. The obverse of the coin is inscribed as "Nur ud din Jahangir Shah (bin) Akbar Shah”. The reverse of the coin is inscribed as Sanah 1022/ 8 “Mah Farwardin Ilahi Zarb Agra”.
