Dendermonde is a small town in Flemish province of East Flanders in Belgium. This city suffered from heavy damage during WW-I.

One of the well-known and costly stamps of Belgium is the Inverted Dendermonde stamp, which was released in 1920. This stamp shows the town hall of Dendermonde upside down. There are currently just 14 limited quantities of this theme available.

On June 18, 2009, this well-centered Stamp was sold at the Spink auction for US$ 130,000.
