Maithili Sharan Gupta was one of the great and famous Hindi poets. He was born on 3 August 1886 at Chirgaon, Jhansi in Uttar Pradesh. He is considered pioneer of Khadi Boli poetry and wrote in Khadi Boli dialect. His works are based on patriotic themes among other poets. Gupt wrote for various magazines including Saraswati. His first major work was published by India press in 1910. India post issued a Commemorative stamp on Maithili Sharan Gupt on 3 July 1974.Emission: Commemorative.
