Remembrance of Subhadra kumari chauhan

Subhadra Kumari Chauhan, the Hindi poet whose personality is the patriotic fire of Joan of Arc and the lyricism of Meera, was born in Nihalpur village, which is now part of Allahabad, in 1904. She is reputed to have composed her first couplet in Hindi when she was 6. Her poetry was publish in the fiery Hindi monthly 'Karmaveer' in 1920-21.

She quit her studies in 1920, during Mahatma Gandhi's Non-Cooperation Movement. The young couple decided the decision to join the national battle. They collected funds for the Satyagraha campaign poems by visiting from village to village. Chauhan was the first woman to face judicial arrest during the "Flag Satyagraha," which started in Nagpur. She died on 15th February 1948 in car accident.

A Commemorative Stamp of S. K. Chauhan was issued on 06 August 1976.

Today, Mintage World pays tribute on her death anniversary.
