This 1 Barbados Dollar banknote was one of eight distinct denominations of Barbados Dollar banknotes released by the Central Bank of Barbados (National Heroes Square). They are a part of the collection of discontinued Barbadian Dollar banknotes. These one-dollar bills were first printed by the Central Bank of Barbados in 1973. They were taken off the market in 1980.In 1980, the $1 Barbados dollar coin took the place of the banknote. Up to that point, it was Barbados's lowest denomination notes. It has Samuel Jackman Prescod's likeness, who founded the Bajan Liberal Party, just like the subsequent $20 note.
