Silver Drachm of Kumargupta I of Gupta Empire

The Gupta Empire was the ancient Indian dynasty that existed between the 4th Century CE and the 6th Century CE. The Gupta Empire is believed to be the feudatory of the Kushan Empire. This kingdom was founded by King Sri Gupta in 240 CE.Kumargupta I sat on the throne of the Gupta Empire in 415 CE and ruled it until 450 CE. He was the son of Gupta emperor Chandragupta II and queen Dhruvadevi.
This silver drachm was issued by king Kumargupta I during his rule in Gupta Empire. The obverse side of this coin depicts the bust of the king facing towards the right and the reverse side of this coin Garuda in the centre and the Brahmi legend Paramabhagavata Maharajadhiraja Shri Kurama Gupta Mahendraditya around.
