Swarnim Vijay Varsh commemorates 50 years of victory of India and the formation of Bangladesh. Vijay Diwas is celebrated on December 16 every year to honor the victory of Indian armed forces over Pakistan in the 1971 war. On this day, India pays homage to all the soldiers who defended the nation. It was the shortest and biggest war surrender in the history of military warfare since World War 2.Defence Minister Rajnath Singh issued a commemorative stamp of 50 years of Vijay diwas at the National War Memorial, he also lit 4 flames which were traversed in all directions and were taken to key War places and to the Heroes of 1971 war which were later all merged with the "Eternal flame" by Prime Minister Narendra Modi
