2022-11-07 Mon
The Algerian currency is based on the Algerian Dinar, established in 1964 to replace the Algerian new franc. The Bank of Algeria issued 500 Algerian Dinar banknotes in 1998. This note was part of the current Algerian Dinar banknotes series issued in six different denominations; they are currently in circulation. The 500 Dinar of Algeria has a holographic security foil on the front. The design of these banknotes is similar to the 1992 version: Hannibal and his elephants are on the front side. The backside of this banknote depicts a 500 D.A. bill showing Algerian tourism hotspots: the hot springs of Hamman Debagh and the tomb of King Masinissa in Constantine.
