It is one of the most famous battles in British naval history; fought between the British Royal Navy and the combined fleets of the French and Spanish Navies during the War of the Third Coalition of the Napoleonic Wars. The Royal Navy destroyed and proved the greatest threat to British security for 200 years but lost Britain's national hero in the process. The British's destroyed around 19 enemy ships in the Battle of Trafalgar and did not lose any of their ships.
