Today Alauddin Khalji conquered the throne of Delhi in 1296

Alauddin Khalji was the most powerful ruler of the Khalji dynasty; he murdered his father-in-law and access to the throne of the Delhi Sultanate. With the help of general Malik Kafur and Khusraw Khan, Ala ud Din Muhammad Khijli played a vital role in expanding the Delhi Sultanate into South India. He laid campaigns in the Deccan and brought back vast booty with him.Today on 21st October 1296, he sat on the throne of Delhi Sultanate. After sitting on the throne of Delhi Sultanate, Alauddin Khalji successfully defended his kingdom against the invasion of Mongals. He was an ambitious and intelligent ruler. To maintain a strong army he ensures suffient revenue flow and series of economic reforms. Alauddin Khalji wanted to conquer entire world, therefore he also assumed the title ‘Sikandar Sani’, but later he drop his plan.
This gold tanka was issued by Alauddin Khalji from the mint Hadrat Delhi during his rule in Delhi Sultanate. The obverse of the coin is inscribed as ‘Al Sultan Al-Azam Ala Al-Dunya wa’l Din Abul Muzaffar Muhammad Shah Al-Sultan’. The reverse of the coin is inscribed as ‘Sikandar Al-thani Yamin Al-Khilafa Nasir Amir Al Mu’minin’. Date and mint name in the margin around.
