The Theatre of Taormina is an ancient theatre of Greek. It was built during the 2nd Century BC and restructured and widened by the Romans. Today it is the center of Taormina’s international film festival.The Greek Theatre of Taormina was made to accommodate dramatic performances or musicals. During the times of Roman, it was transformed during the Roman times to make room for games and gladiatorial battles. This theatre also involved the expansion of the orchestra, which in Greek times was destined for the musicians, to be adapted to the new function arena.
The Theatre of Taormina is the second largest theatre in Sicily, after the one in Syracuse, it is also the world’s best known and most admired.
