Boats played a significant role in the trade between the Indus Valley Civilizations and Mesopotamia. Historians such as Herodotus, Pliny the Elder, and Strabo recorded the use of boats for trade, transport, and military purpose. The use of the Boat was seen in Sumer, ancient Egypt, and the Indian Ocean between 4000 and 3000 BC.Boat-building is the science of constructing huge vessels which can float on water. Wood is traditionally used to build a boat. Some types of wood such as Teak, Totara, and Cedars got the property of not getting rot soon. Keel and frames are made from oak.
The evidence of the boat is 40,000 years old. The earliest boats found by Archaeologists are dugouts. The oldest recovered boat in the world is the Pesse canoe from Netherland. Rafts boats have been functional for 8000 years.
