Wilhelm Conrad Rontgen was a German mechanical engineer and physicist. He was the first person to produce and detect electromagnetic radiation in a wavelength range today known as x-rays or Rontgen rays.He produces and detected electromagnetic radiation in a wavelength range known as X-rays or Rontgen rays. His discovery of X-rays was a great revolution in the field of physics and medicine and electrified the general public. He also received a noble prize for his discovery. He was the first physicist who received the Nobel Prize for Physics, in 1901.
The Government of India issued this commemorative stamp on C. Rontgen in 1995 to commemorate him and his work.
