Indra Lal Roy Commemorative Stamp

Indra Lal Roy was the sole Indian World War I flying ace. He was born on December 2, 1898, in Calcutta to Piera Lal Roy and Lolita Roy. His father was a barrister and Director of Public Prosecutions.Indra Lal Roy had served in WWI with the Royal Flying Corps and its successor, the Royal Air Force. During WWI claimed ten victories, five aircraft destroyed (one shared), and five 'down out of control' (one shared) in just over 170 hours of flying time, making him the first Indian flying ace .
The Government of India issued his commemorative stamp in 1998 to commemorate him and his work.
