Gagenendranath Tagore was an Indian Bengali painter and cartoonist of Bengali School. Gagenendranath Tagore was born to Gunendranath Tagore at Jorasanko into a family whose creativity defined cultural life. This family is famous for its immense wealth, patronized art, and culture.Gagenendranath lost his father at the age of 14, and hence his formal education came to an abrupt end. He educated himself in arts and literature and received lessons from the occidental watercolorist Harinarayan Bandopadhyay.
Gaganendranath's brother Abanindranath was a pioneer and leading exponent of the Bengal School of Art. Gaganendranath Tagore studied Japanese brush techniques and the works of Yokohama Okakuru and Tykan Taikowan between 1906 and 1610. He began to incorporate the art of the Far East into his work.
