2022-07-13 Wed
The Mexican peso is the currency of Mexico. The name was first used in reference to pesos oro (gold weights) or pesos Plata (silver weights). The Spanish word peso means "weight". <The first banknotes issued by the Mexican state were produced in 1823 by Emperor Agustin de Iturbide in denominations of 1, 2, and 10 pesos. In September 2006, a new series of banknotes was issued. Each banknote featured iconic people of Mexico and iconic architectural or cultural elements. <
The Mexico 200 Pesos Banknote comes from the 2004-2017 series that made use of Polymer for the 200-peso denomination. The front side features writer, poet and philosopher Sor Juana In de la Cruz, along with an open book and quill. The back side features the Hacienda de Panoaya, the place where Sor Juana In de la Cruz lived. <
