50 Years of Statehood: Himachal Pradesh

Himachal Pradesh is spread across valleys with many perennial rivers. The maximum population of the state lives in rural. People in the state are involved majority in agriculture, horticulture, hydropower, and tourism.

Tribes such as the Koli, Hali, Dagi, Dhaugri, Dasa, Khasa, Kanaura, and Kirata inhabited the region for a very long time. It is the northernmost state of India and shares borders with the union territories of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh to the north, the states of Punjab to the west, Haryana to the southwest, Uttarakhand to the southeast, and a very narrow border with Uttar Pradesh to the south.

The state is one of the richest reservoirs of biological diversity in the world. It is divided into 12 districts which are grouped into three divisions, Shimla, Kangra, and Mandi. Hindi is the official language of Himachal Pradesh and is spoken by the majority of the population.
