Quasquicentennial of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose

2021 marks the 125th birth anniversary of iconic freedom fighter Subhas Chandra Bose, popularly known as Netaji. The government has planned to install a grand granite statue of Netaji at India Gate, Delhi.The statue would be 28 feet in height and 6 feet in breadth. The jade black stone to be used for the construction of the statue will be brought from Telangana. The statue will be placed in the canopy replacing the Amar Jawan Jyoti, the “eternal flame” of which was merged with the National War Memorial Torch.
He was featured on the stamps in India from 1964, 1993, 1997, 2001, 2016, 2018 and 2021. He was also featured in 2 rupees coins in 1996 and 1997, 75 rupees coin in 2018 and 125 rupees coin in 2021. Kolkata airport, one of the islands of Andaman and many other institutions in India are named after him. He is a much-respected name in Japan.
