Palvan-Darwaza Gateway Commemorative Stamp

Palvan-Darwaza is one of the busiest places of medieval Khiva the eastern gate of Khiva's citadel Ichan Kala. It is the famous Allah ad-Din tomb, near the Islam Khwaja Complex, which lies north of this mausoleum. The local people call PalvanDarwaza as gate “Slave” as there was the slave trade.Palvan-Darwaza was named after the name of a local poet, Palvan Mahmud, a patron saint of the city, the meaning of the word 'Palvan is 'Hercules'. Palvan Mahmud is the author of more than 300 rubai, which describes life with all joys and sorrows.
