Uganda officially the Republic of Uganda is a landlocked country in East Africa. Uganda is named after the Buganda kingdom, which encompasses a large portion of the south of the country, including the capital Kampala and whose language Luganda is widely spoken throughout the country.

The shilling is the currency of Uganda. The first Ugandan shilling replaced the East African shilling in 1966 which was again replaced in 1987 due to high inflation. Despite being in an economic crunch, the country has been producing some beautiful banknotes. Shown above is a 10,000-Shilling note issued in the year 2006.

The banknote’s obverse features a Stylised Crested Crane and Earth globe, the logo of CHOGM 2007; Coat of Arms depicting spears, waves of Lake Victoria, the Sun, a traditional drum, Crested Crane, the Ugandan Kob, River Nile, fertile land, coffee, and cotton; Coat of Arms of the Bank of Uganda.

The banknote's reverse features the Kiira hydroelectric power station dam on the Victoria Nile at Jinja – the downstream of the Nalubaale plant and Gorillas.
