The Birth anniversary of the great Mewar King, Maharana Pratap, is observed across India on May 9, 1540. Maharana Pratap stands as a symbol of heroism, valor, courage, and pride, not only for the Mewar but for the entire nation. He was one of the greatest Indian warriors. He is best known for his role in the Battle of Haldighati and Battle of Dewair.Maharana Pratap was born to Maharana Uday Singh II and Rani Jeevant Kanwar. He was the only Rajput king who refuses to surrender to the Mughal Emperor Akbar. According to the Historian, it is said that Maharana Prata was about 7.5 inches in height. He uses to carry two swords with a weight of 104 kilograms each. It is said that his armor weighs around 72 kilograms while he used to carry an 80-kilogram spear.
One of the interesting facts about Maharana Pratap is that Mughal Emperor Akbar was very much impressed by Maharana Pratap. Even Akbar proposed to Maharana Pratap that, if Maharana Pratap bowed in front of Akbar, then Akbar would give half of India to Maharana Pratap. Maharana Pratap rejected this offer and never bows his head in front of the Mughals till his death.
