Philippines 20 Silver Pesos

Issued by the Central Bank of the Philippines for circulation in the Philippines, the 20 Philippine Pesos is in circulation since 1903. On 1st May 1852, the first set of banknotes of the Philippines was issued which included 10, 25, 50, and 200 pesos Fuertes and They were used until 1896.

By 1903, the American colonial Insular Government had issued Silver Certificates in denominations of 2, 5, and 10 pesos. In addition to these, the higher denominations of 20, 50, 100, and 500 pesos were added in 1905.

The Banknote features Mount Mayon at the center with a blue seal at the right of the obverse. The reverse depicts a tan design and the coat of arms at the center. The overprinted piece of 20 peso silver certificate fetched Dollars 23,500 in the Lyn Knight Currency auction.
