The name "Kedarnath" means "the lord of the field": it derives from the Sanskrit words kedara ("field") and natha ("lord"). Kedarnath Temple is a Hindu temple dedicated to the Hindu god Shiva. Kedarnath Dham; is located in the Rudraprayag district of Uttarakhand. This temple is the most revered temple destination in India.Kedarnath Temple was built by the Pandavas and is one of the twelve Jyotirlingas, the holiest Hindu shrines of Shiva; it is the highest among the 12 Jyotirlingas. This temple is one of the foremost sacred places of Hindu pilgrimage in India. Kedarnath forms one of the four sites of the Chota Char Dham Pilgrimage.
