Silver Drachm of Satavahana ruler Vasithiputa Siri Pulumavi

The word Satavahana; is derived from the Sanskrit word, 'Sapta-Vahana', which means 'driven by seven'. The rulers of the Satavahana Empire claim that they are associated with the legendary Solar dynasty.The rule of the Satavahana Empire ruled from the 2nd Century BCE, and they ruled it until the 2nd Century CE. They played a vital role in Indian history. This dynasty ruled the parts of today's Telangana, Andhra-Pradesh, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka and Gujarat.
Vasithiputa Pulamavi was the son of Gautamiputra Satakaarni; he is also referring as Vasithiputa Siri Pulumavi. This silver drachm was issued by Vasithiputa Pulamavi; during his rule in Satavahana Empire. The weight of this coin is around 2.04g. The obverse of this coin depicts the bust of the king facing towards the right, with a Brahmi legend Ra (ño Vasithi) putasa Siri Pulumavi (sa) around. The reverse side of this silver drachma depicts the 'Ujjain' symbol, a six-arched hill with the crescent, sun, and wavy line in the centre; a legend in Southern Brahmi legend Arahanaku VahittimakanakuTiruPulumaviku around.
