Martyrdom of Guru Tegh Bahadur Commemorative Stamp

Guru Tegh Bahadur was the ninth guru and the founder of the Sikh religion. He was also the father of the 10th Guru, Gobind Singh. He was the leader of Sikhs from 1665 CE until; he was beheaded in 1675 CE.Guru Tegh Bahadur was born on April 1, 1621, in Amritsar, to the sixth Guru Hargobind Ji and Mata Nanaki Ji. He grew up to be a young man and showed great courage in the battle against Mughal. After the Battle, his father gave him the title 'Tegh Bahadur', meaning "Mighty of Sword"; in recognition of his bravery.
Guru Tegh Bahadur was well trained in horsemanship and archery. He also learns in old classics like Vedas, the Upanishads, and the Puranas. He preferred lengthened spells of seclusion and contemplation.
