The translated legends on the note are, “Transnistria, Transnistrian Republican Bank, One Ruble, Forgery of the banknotes of the Bank of Transnistria is punishable by law”.Transnistria is located in the narrow strip of land between the river Dniester and the Ukrainian border. Tiraspol is the largest and capital city of the country. The name Transnistria derives from Romanian colloquial which meant beyond the Dniester River.
