Lord Shiva; is also called Mahadeva; he is the most important god in the Hindu pantheon and is considered a member of the holy trinity (Trimurti) of Hinduism with Brahma and Vishnu. The other name for Lord Shiva is Shankara, Bholenath, Mahesha, Mahadeva, Rudra, Sadashiva, Batara Guru. He is a destroyer and the restorer; he is a supreme god who creates, protects, and transforms the universe.The Iconographical attribute of Shiva is the serpent around his neck, a crescent moon, the holy river Ganga flowing from his matted hair, the third eye on his forehead, the trishula or trident, as his weapon, and the damaru drum. The female consort of Shiva is also called Uma, Sati, Parvati, Durga, and Kali; Shiva is also sometimes paired with Shakti, the embodiment of power.
