Rani Avantibai was an Indian Freedom Fighter and the queen of Ramgarh in Madhya Pradesh. She was skilled in military strategy and state affairs; she was also well trained in archery, horse-riding and wielding a sword.Her political and combat education made her a good candidate for a ruler. Rani Avantibai; got married to PrinceVikramaditya Singh Lodhi, son of Raja Laxman Singh of Ramgarh, at a very young age. After the death of Raja Laxman Singh, Vikramaditya Singh Lodhi sat on the throne of Ramgarh, and as a queen, she efficiently administrated state affairs of Ramgarh. The queen ordered the farmers of the state not to obey the instructions of the British. The British were unhappy with this decision of Queen Rani Avantibai, and they call for war.
Rani Avantibai fought very bravely with the British army. She and her army were successful in defeating the British army. However, the defeated British army; came back with more force and launched an attack on Ramgarh. Avantibai resorted to guerilla warfare to fend off the British army. She took the sword from the guard’s sword and pierced it into herself and thus committing suicide on 20 March 1858 when facing almost certain defeat in battle.
