The gold Gadayana of Shilaharas of Kolhapur sold for INR2,75,000, in an online auction of OswalAntion held in Mumbai on February 19, 2022.

The Shilahara Dynasty was the royal dynasties established in northern and southern Konkan, present-day Mumbai, and southern Maharashtra during the Rashtrakuta period.

The Shilahara Dynasties got split into three branches, one branch ruled Northern Konkan, the second branch ruled South Konkan, and the third branch ruled the modern district of Kolhapur, Satara, and Belgaum between 940 and 1215; after which they were overwhelmed by the Yadavas.

This gold Gadayana weighs around 3.95g was issued by Shilaharas of Kolhapur during their rule. The obverse of this coin depicts Garuda dancing facing left, holding a Snake in his left hand. The reverse of this coin depicts Temple, Sivalinga inside.
