The silver double rupee; was issued by Mysore king Tipu Sultan during his rule in Mysore. The Kingdom of Mysore is located in the southern part of India. During the rule of the Tipu Sultan, it was very rich and glorious during the rule of the Tipu Sultan.Tipu Sultan was the king of Mysore and also the son of Haider Ali. He is always remembered as one of the most powerful rulers of India.
Kingdom Mysore has a very old history; it was built on the foundation of the mighty Vijaynagar Kingdom. Later it was ruled by the Wodeyar’s Dynasty, the first Muslim dynasty of Mysore and the first ruler of this dynasty was Haider Ali.
This silver double rupee is listed with the estimated price of INR 225000-250000 in the upcoming online auction of Oswal Antiques that will be held in Mumbai on 19th February 2022. The obverse of this coin is inscribed as “Ahmad din dar Jahn Ast Raushan ze Fatah Haidar he Zarb Pattan saal-i- Azal sanah 1198 Hijri” The reverse of this coin is inscribed as“Huwa as sultan al Waheed Al Adil Seum Bahari Saal Jalav Sanah 3 julus”.
