He was also appointed; as Commander of the Confederates States Army.Robert Edward Lee was the son of Henry Lee and the son of Ann Hill Carter Lee. His father was the hero of the American Revolution and the governor of Virginia. Robert Edward Lee; is regarded as an effective and principled strategist who worked relentlessly to reunify the country after the bloodshed of the American Civil War.
