Robert Edward Lee was an American Confederate general in the Confederate States of America during the American Civil War. He was also appointed; as Commander of the Confederates States Army.

Robert Edward Lee was the son of Henry Lee and the son of Ann Hill Carter Lee. His father was the hero of the American Revolution and the governor of Virginia. Robert Edward Lee; is regarded as an effective and principled strategist who worked relentlessly to reunify the country after the bloodshed of the American Civil War.

This commemorative stamp was issued by the United States of America in the year 1995, to commemorate him and his work.
