Chandragupta Maurya is the key figure in the history of India.Chandragupta Maurya destroyed the Nanda Empire and established Maurya Empire. He also defeated the Macedonian satrapies in the northwest of the Indian subcontinent. He extended his kingdom from modern-day Bengal to Afghanistan across North India as well as making inroads into Central and South India.
