Today, on 11th October 1727 CE George II of England was coroneted at Westminster Abbey. George II was King of Great Britain and Ireland, Duke of Brunswick Luneburg, and prince-elector of the Holy Roman Empire. He sat on the throne in the year 1727 CE and ruled it until 1760 CE.

Geroge II was born to King George I of England and Sophia Dorothea of Celle. He married Caroline of Brandenburg-Ansbach in 1705, an attractive and intelligent woman. In 1708 he took part in the Battle of Oudenarde in Belgium against the French. After sitting on the throne of England, he changed his father's policies.

The Reign of George II was threatened in 1745 when Charles Edward Stuart, the Young Pretender, landed in Scotland. Later, Charles Edward was defeated at the Battle of Culloden in April 1746. Subsequent Jacobite plots had no realistic prospect of success.
