Maratha Confederacy Copper Coin Listed For INR 85,000

This copper coin weighs around 7.40g; was issued by Shambu Raja during his rule in Maratha Empire.Shambu Raja Bhosale was the son of Maratha Empire ruler Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj; he was the second Chhatrapati of the Maratha Empire. He sat on the throne of the Maratha Empire after the death of his father. After sitting on the throne of the Maratha Empire, he defeated the Portuguese and Chikka Deva Raya of Mysore. In 1689, Sambhaji was captured, tortured, and executed by the Mughals. He was succeeded as Chhatrapati by his brother, Rajaram I.
This copper coin is listed for INR 85,000 in the upcoming auction of Todywalla, which will be held in Mumbai, on September 25, 2021. The obverse of this coin is inscribed as ‘Shree / Raja / Shambhu In three lines’. The reverse of this coin is inscribed as ‘Chhatra / Pati In two lines’.
