Battle of Antietam is also called as Battle of Sharpsburg; it took place on September 17, 1862, at Antietam Creek near Sharpsburg, Maryland. The term Antietam is derived from Antietam Creek, which flows from Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, to the Potomac River near Harpers Ferry, West Virginia.This battle had a very shocking and violent, the casualties of this war were so high that day of this was is well known as "The Bloodiest Day in American History." The outcome of this battle was vital to shape America’s future. It remains the deadliest one-day battle in all of American military history. In South Battle of Antietam was encounter as Battle of Sharpsburg, because main fight took place near the town of that name.
