Tipu Sultan Double Rupee Listed For INR 2,25,000

This silver double rupee that weighs around 22.93g was issued by Mysore king Tipu Sultan during his rule in Mysore. Tipu Sultan issued this coin in the Hijri year 1199, during the 3rd year of this reign in the month Azal from the month Patan.This silver double rupee is listed for INR 2,25,000 in the upcoming auction of Oswal Antiques that will be held in Lucknow on 1st October 2021. The obverse of this coin is inscribed as ‘Ahmad din dar Jahn Ast Raushan ze Fatah Haidar he Zarb Pattan Saal i jalav sanah 1199 hijri’. The reverse of this coin is inscribed as ‘Huwa as sultan al Waheed al Adil serum Bahari saal jalav sanah 3 julus’.
