Reign of the Abbasid Caliph Al-Hadi

Al Hadi, the fourth caliph to rule the Abbasid Caliphate was born on 26th April 764. He succeeded his father Al Mahdi in 785 and ruled till 786 AD.His short rule was wrought with numerous military conflicts. He was considered an "enlightened ruler", and continued the progressive moves of his Abbasid predecessors.
During the reign, he issued gold and silver coins in the denomination of Dinar and Dirham. These coins were struck at Al Abbasiya, Al Haruniya, Al Muhammadiya, and Ifriqiya.
It depicted the legend ‘la ilahilla / allahwahdahu / la shariklahu’ within the field and ‘bismallahduribahadha’l-dirham bi’l-haruniyya’ within the margin of the obverse face.
The reverse bore the inscription ‘ibrahim / muhammadrasulallah / li’l-khalifa al-hadi / mimmaamarabihiharun / ibnamir al-mu’minin’ in field and ‘muhammadrasulallaharsalahubi’l-hudawa din al-haqq li-yuzhirahu ‘ala al-din kullihiwa law kariha al-mushrikun’ in margin area.
