Thai stamp Depicting Ganesha

The influence of the famous and beloved Indian deity is not just limited to India but many other countries have its influence. They have issued many stamps honouring commemorating Ganesh – the god of wisdom. Thailand is one such country to issue a postage stamp depicting a portrait of Lord Ganapati.The stamps were issued to celebrate the 70th Anniversary of Silpakorn University Ganesh, the deity of knowledge, art and technology, which has been used by Silpakorn University as its symbol, due to being an institution of intelligence and wisdom imparting the study of art and technology in various aspects as mission of the university which had been founded in 1993 by Professor Silpa Bhirasri, the Italian artist and sculptor.
Mr. Chalermchai Kositpipat, in this capacity as an alumnus of this university, has used his work of paintings and sculptures of the Hindu God Ganesh as the postage stamp design.
