Today on June 24, 1509, Henry VIII was crowned as a king in England. He is known as the most colorful king in history, getting married to a series of six wives in his search for political alliance, marital bliss, and a healthy male heir.

King Henry VIII was the second son of Henry VII and Elizabeth of York. He sat on the throne of England after the death of his elder brother, Prince Arthur, in 1502 and succeeded in 1509.

King Henry VIII is best known for his six marriages, he is also known for the separation of the Church of England from the Roman Catholic Church.
