2021-05-19 Wed

Lebanese Lira is the currency of a country in western Asia name lira. Though Lebanon was issuing banknotes since 1925, the Bank of Lebanon gained the right to issue notes in denominations of 1, 5, 10, 25, 50, 100, and 250 Lebanese pounds or Lira.

These banknotes come with different monuments of national identity. The 5 lira banknote shown above features the national museum of Lebanon. It is the principal museum of archaeology in Lebanon. The collection began after World War I, and the museum was officially opened in 1942. The museum is an important factor of the national identity of the country as it exhibits pieces of the country’s past.

The reverse depicts Adonis' bridge on the "Nahr El Kalb" river, which is another evidence of the history of Lebanon. From the Egyptian Pharaoh to the British army this route has been taken by many conquerors. The bridge was built by a pasha from Mount Lebanon between 1883 and 1892.
