Magha dynasty of Kaushambi

The Magha Dynasty came into existence during the decline of the Kushan Empire and Gupta had not emerged. The Magha dynasty ruled the area around Kausambi. They were called as Magha’s because several kings have their name ending with Magha like ‘Bhadramagha’, ‘Sivamagha I’,’ Vijayamagha’; but till today’s date no one has any answer what they use to call themselves.This copper coin which weighs around 4.61g was issued from the Magha dynasty of Kaushambi by king Praushtha Sri. The obverse of this coin depicts Standing bull facing towards the right. The reverse of this coin depicts Brahmi legend ‘Pushva Sri with 3-arched hill and railed tree above.
