Birth Anniversary of Babu Gulabrai

An eminent figure in modern Hindi literature, Babu Gulabrai was born on 17th January 1888. He was a critic, author and essayist.Babu Gulabrai was born in Etawah, where his father, Babu Bhawani Prasad was a Munsarif in the Judicial. After completing his MA in Philosophy and LLB at Agra University, he worked in the Darbar of the Chhatarpur Maharaja for two decades. He also worked as the Deewan in the Princely state of Aligarh. His first two works, Shanti Dharma and Maitri Dharma reflected his ideology and interests.
He went on to enrich the Hindi language and literature by authoring a large number of books on serious subjects like philosophy, psychology, politics, and the sciences. One among his works, Hindi Sahitya Ka Subodh Itihaas, has been particularly popular with many generations of readers and has gone into a record 47th edition.
The India Postal Department has issued a postage stamp honoring Babu Gulabrai on 22nd June, 2002.
