Louis XII also is known as Father of the People was King of France reigning from 1498 to 1515 and King of Naples from 1501 to 1504. He is noted for his disastrous Italian wars and for his domestic popularity. The son of Charles, Duke of Orleans, and Maria of Cleves, he succeeded his cousin Charles VIII, who died without a closer heir in 1498. Although he came unexpectedly to power, Louis acted with vigor, reforming the French legal system, reducing taxes, and improving the government much like his contemporary Henry VII did in England.
On 8th January in the year 1499, Louis XII of France marries Anne of Brittany in accordance with a law set by his predecessor, Charles VIII. Anne minted the gold coin in her own name. A year later, after their marriage, Louis XII interdicted any new mintage in Anne's name.
The above-shown coin depicts the Anne viewed from the front sitting on a gothic throne, crowned, with scepter and raised sword, lilies and ermine tails on her dress on its obverse face. On the other hand, the reverse of a coin engraved crowned ermine tails in the angles of the French lilies Cross.
