Letitia Tyler was the first wife of John Tyler; the tenth president of the United States of America from 1841-1845. She was the first lady of the United States of America from 1841 until her death in 1842.Letitia was born at Cedar Grove to Mary and Colonel Robert Christian. As a child Letitia was shy, quiet, and pious; she was selfless and devoted towards her family. Although due to her poor health Letitia was not able to fulfil her normal social duties of First Lady; but she directed the entertaining and household management of the White House.
The United States of America had issued this commemorative coin with the theme of Letitia Tyler in the year 2009. The obverse of this coin depicts the bust of Letitia Tyler. The reverse of this coin depicts Letitia Tyler and her two children; the background of the coin depicts Cedar Grove Plantation, with the plantation building and fields visible in the distance.
