Kadambas of Hangal Gold Pagoda Listed For INR 3,50,000

Hangal is a town situated in the Haveri district in Karnataka; it is situated in the Bank of river Dharma. The Kadambas dynasty had its various branches; Kadambas of Hangal is one such branch that ruled between 972 CE and 1252 CE. The Kadambas of Hangal had ruled this region during the later classical period in the Indian subcontinent. The Kadambas of Hangal is consisting of the eastern part of the North Canara district and Western Part of Dharwad district.The Kadambas of Hangal minted coins in heavy pure gold coins. King Shantivarma issued coins in pure gold from 1075 CE to 1789 CE. The coins issued by him were bears central punch mark of Hunumana and four other symbols around. Another coin issued by him is Die-Struck coins which contain Goddess Laxmi on side and Toyimadeva on others. One of the gold coins issued by him depicts god Hanumana inside line and dotted circle, flanked by two chouries and conch. It also includes the figures of the sun and moon.
This gold pagoda was issued by Kadambas of Hangal. The obverse of this coin depicts seated Hanumana facing towards the right and image of Shanka on each side and Nagari legend ‘Nakara’ written below Hanumana. The reverse side of the coin depicts an ornamental scroll within decorative borders. This gold pagoda was listed for INR 3,50,000 in an auction of Todywalla which was held in Kolkatta on 21st December 2019.
