Ikshvaku was one of the tenth sons of Shraddhadeva Manu, and also the first king of the Ikshvaku dynasty. The Ikshavaku dynasty is also known as ‘Suryavansha’ and the kingdom of Kosala in ancient India. According to the Vishnu, Purana Ikshvaku had a hundred sons; and Nimi, one of the sons of Ikshvaku was the founder of the Kingdom of Videhas.This lead coin which weighs around 11.05g was issued by king Ikshvaku from the Anantapur region. The obverse of this coin depicts ‘Standing horse facing towards the right with and earth ball in front. The reverse of this coin depicts six arched hills with the crescent on the left and tree in the railing on right.
