The Pallava Dynasty

The Pallava was one of the South Indian dynasties which ruled India from the 4th century CE to the late 9th century CE. The Pallava dynasty ruled Mysore, Karnatka, and southern India; during the rule of king Dharmapala and Devapala they also expanded their kingdom till Afghanistan. Originally the Pallava worked as the official under the rule of Satvahana; later they established themselves as local rulers.

The Pallavas were patrons of art and architecture. One of the finest examples of the architecture of Pallava are the Shore Temples. Shore Temples are a UNESCO World Heritage Site in Mamallapuram.

This lead factional unit was issued by the Pallavas from the Andhra Pradesh region during the 4th Century. The obverse of this coin depicts standing bull facing towards the right. The reverse of the coin depicts eight spooked wheel.
