2,000th Death Anniversary of Emperor Augustus on Italian Coin

On May 7th 2014, the 2,000th death anniversary of the Roman emperor, Gaius Julius Caesar Octavianus, popularly known as Augustus, was observed by Italy with the release of a commemorative Proof .925 fine silver 10-euro coin.The Roman Empire was built by Augustus who ruled for the longest period in Roman history.
The obverse features the bust of Augustus inspired by a marble statue which is now in the National Roman Museum. The reverse bears the details from the friezes decorating the Ara Pacis, the Altar of Peace, in Rome.
Mintage is limited to 5,000 pieces and the coin costs 60 euros each.
