Ukraine’s First Five Million Banknotes of 1,000 Hryvnia Denomination

13 years after the launch of 500 Hryvnia denominations, the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) intends to print the preliminary issue of the first 5 million banknotes of the new 1,000 Hryvnia denomination on October 25th, 2019.The National Bank of Ukraine would keep this currency on a test run and the next batch would be printed according to the needs of the nation’s economy.
The 1,000 Hryvnia banknotes will also come in circulation on the day of launch itself. The obverse of the banknote will feature a portrait of Volodymyr Vernadskyi, a Ukrainian philosopher, naturalist, and the founder of new scientific disciplines like, geochemistry, biochemistry, and radiogeolody, while the reverse will have the picture of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. The color of the denomination is going be Violet.
Currently 1, 2, 5, 10, 20, 50, 100, 200, and 500 Hryvnia denominations are in circulation.
